Don’t you hate it when you’re at the opposite end of the street to the action! Waiting at a roadblock while the police searched for a suspect in the stabbing of a dairy owner I managed to get two frames as he ran across the street.

That’s a major crop. From over 500m away I cropped the 12mpx, 4000+pixel image to 880 pixels to submit. But a huge crop is better than no pic. The Dominion Post blew it up huge for their front page, to the point it fell apart. The HB Today ran it front page but slight smaller so it still looked OK.

Armed police closed off a section of Hastings Street, Napier, as they searched for an offender believed to have a gun. Photos are here on NZPA. As of Sunday morning the offender has still not been found.
