Following the Samoan earthquake and tsunami Napier was put on alert by Civil Defence for a possible tsunami arriving at 10:40am.

Bomb Scare

Napier once again had a large area of the central city locked down by armed police after a bomb scare on a bus at the Napier Travel Center. Photos are here on NZPA.

Police State House Fire

22.09.09

A well involved house fire in Nelson Cres, Napier, became very had to get photos of after police decided to illegally close the road to media while leaving it open to the public. Robin Hewett who lives nearby was fast on the scene and able to get a shot before the fire service arrived. His image was front page of the following days HB Today newspaper.
