As the dust settles it’s time for a look back at the event. Working from the media area – a camper party van with a dodgy internet connection, myself and Mike Beauchamp published over one thousand images of various parts of the event. Sadly even with two of us on the ground there was so much on that some parts of the show got very little coverage. Images are here on Sports Images and our Horse of the Year gallery.
Looking back through the images here are some that I liked the most:

Leopoldo Palacios talks to Samantha McIntosh before the Silver Fern Stakes. I don’t know what about – but his expressions made some great frames.

Jody Hartstone on Landioso wins the FEI 3 Star Dressage Grand Prix. Getting a clean background in the dressage arena was a hard task. Even this image wasn’t quite right. I think the tail flicking out made the image.

Following her win in the Pony of the Year class I followed her back to the stables for a few after images. I shot a few frames of this but this was the only one with a smile.

Bella Ives waits to compete on Punga Oscar in the Leading Rein Pony Best Rider. An expression I couldn’t resist shooting.

Simon Wilson bangs his head as Swinger refuses a jump in the Olympic Cup class. With no time for feeling sorry he composed himself, swun around, and continued on.

There’s nothing too special about this image. It’s just nice to see an Australian almost falling off and being eliminated. Jamie Winning on Vangelo Des Hazelles privided this shot.

Australian Peter McMahon riding KS Genoa celebrates his Horse of the Year win with a victory lap.
