The rain that had been falling all day contributed to a few MVC’s on the wet, slippery roads. A two car collision in Waiohiki Road caused congestion late this afternoon.

Napier fire appliances assisted ambulance staff and police with a crew member on the Oceanic Discoverer after he was crushed in a hydraulic fire door. The man was carried up and taken to hospital in a critical condition. Photos are here on NZPA and story here on XTRA news.

A derailed wagon in a freight train caused the crossing to be closed and traffic diverted at the top end of Kennedy Road. Strange to be in the normally busy area and yet no traffic.
