Police State House Fire

A well involved house fire in Nelson Cres, Napier, became very had to get photos of after police decided to illegally close the road to media while leaving it open to the public. Robin Hewett who lives nearby was fast on the scene and able to get a shot before the fire service arrived. His image was front page of the following days HB Today newspaper. HAZCHEM Pallets

Hastings and Napier firefighters attended a pallet fire which was also found to contain a copper based plant food. Napier 5116 was called in and firefighters in level 3 splash suits cleaned up. More photos on the Photoserver and NZPA.

Lots On In The Bay

With the 2009 Art Deco weekend underway lots is going on in Hawkes Bay. Not all is related to Art Deco however….

Steam locomotive JA1211 was seen here running alongside Westshore Beach in the rain as it started a day trip to Wairoa.

Then in keeping with the train theme a truck and train came together in Ahuriri. Photos on NZPA.

The rain that had been falling all day contributed to a few MVC’s on the wet, slippery roads. A two car collision in Waiohiki Road caused congestion late this afternoon.
